VMware Canada leader banks on the channel

TORONTO – Eric Gales, the country manager for VMware Canada, also sat down for a video interview with CDN where he talked about his new role and how the channel plays a major part in the subsidiary’s plans going forward.

CDN also ask Gales about VMware’s cloud strategy and what makes it different in the market place.
Gales said that the VMware cloud solution starts with a hypervisor at its core. He added that ever cloud environment has already gone through virtualization and that VMware vCloud suite provides all the dimensions for a public cloud infrastructure so that channel partners can build a true hybrid cloud that can compete with private clouds.
He also said that 85 per cent of revenues are through the channel and that all transactional purchases go through distribution. Under his leadership he is open to all types of channel models from OEM partners, alliance partners and even service providers.

“We see an opportunity in all of those and across the range of technology with what we sell. There is a lot of upside for every partner type in VMware’s partner strategy. So all of them apply and the key is mapping to customers for the coverage model,” Gales said.
