Software-defined storage disrupts the market

The promise of software-defined storage (SDS) is that it will substantially lower upfront costs for enterprise storage.

However, before SDS becomes a big market disruptor vendors have to work on solidifying what the total cost of ownership is for the channel and their customers. This includes management and support costs.

At the recently concluded Dell/ITWC Cookin’ IT Right event in Toronto, new knowledge about software-defined storage was realized by many channel partners in attendance.

Dell Canada’s position on the burgeoning SDS market is that it presents a new, innovative approach to solving tough enterprise challenges.

Greg Deffenbaugh, Dell’s enterprise technologist, was interviewed at the event and he outlines the possibilities of SDS for the channel.
