Turbonomic extends AI-powered workload automation to Kubernetes-as-a-Service offerings

Turbonomic is expanding its kubernetes-as-a-service (KaaS) offerings by adding AI-automation support for container technologies belonging to Microsoft, Amazon, Google and Pivotal, the workload automation company announced recently.

The new KaaS management capabilities include support for Amazon Elastic Container Service for Kubernetes (EKS), Microsoft Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), and Pivotal Container Service (PKS). Turbonomic says the latest update will allow EKS, AKS, GKE and PKS customers to automate pod rescheduling – pods are a group of containers that are deployed together on the same host – and scale Kubernetes clusters based on real-time demand. These new capabilities will be driven by the company’s AI-powered decision engine.

Support for EKS, AKS, GKE and PKS will be available this fall. A spokesperson for Turbonomics confirmed to CDN that all four will be available in Canada as well, either through Turbonomic or its channel partners, this fall.

“Kubernetes will continue to fuel the modernization of applications and services,” said Charles Crouchman, CTO at Turbonomic. “Only Turbonomic enables KaaS offerings to self-manage, freeing DevOps and Operators to focus on innovating to drive digital transformation.”

KaaS offerings are increasing in popularity. More than 50 per cent of organizations are expected to run containerized applications in production by 2020, up from less than 20 per cent today, according to Gartner.
