Toronto solution provider expands into Western Canada

FlexITy Solutions Inc. has expanded into Western Canada and have hired industry veteran, Darwin Funk to spearhead the move as regional vice president of sales and operations.

Funk’s responsibilities will include operations, sales and customer service across the entire western region delivering industry specific client solutions based on a broad portfolio of technology vendors and company solution sets.

Peter Stavropoulos, the president and CEO of FlexITy, said recent strategic wins in the west have reinforced the company’s goal to add more facilities, people and network resources to manage growth in Western Canada.

“We are delighted to appoint Darwin to our senior leadership team to drive these initiatives forward. Darwin brings a high degree of business acumen and customer focus which will further our efforts as we build on the momentum we are seeing,”  he said.

FlexITy’s new Western Canada offices will be located in Winnipeg and the company will also be hiring a team to support Funk. The network expansion will include a new western POP (point of presence) featuring an environment using solutions from FlexITy vendor partners Cisco, NetApp, EMC, Hitachi and VMware.

Stavropoulos added that Western Canadian organizations are unique in that they need to provide high quality enterprise applications across urban centers, rugged geographies and remote offices and too often they face challenges that include affordability, reliability and availability not experienced by businesses in other parts of the world.

“For western-based enterprises relying on the operational efficiencies promised by global trends such as Unified Communications and Collaboration, there have been few options. Unless you are architecting and supporting solutions specifically designed for western Canada you just don’t get how difficult it can be,” he said.
