In one day PureLogic IT Solutions celebrated its sixth year in business and the company’s founder Coreen Bouchard signed a merger agreement with Calgary-based Sebo Systems.
The Kanata, Ont.-based PureLogicIT will now have its first office in Western Canada and outside the National Capital Region. It also gives the solution provider a stronger technical bench and professional services nationwide.
Company president Bouchard told CDN that PureLogicIT ships to every province and they are working toward becoming a nation-wide solution provider.
“These are exciting times and we reached an inflection point in our business and we want to go national,” she said.
The impetus for the merger was brought on by the changes with Shared Services Canada and the new procurement rules for the federal government. Bouchard, who was honoured as CDN Woman of the Channel pioneer in 2011, said that the company could no longer rely on one client that brings in most of the revenue.
“It opened my eyes to think about protecting the business and not to get into cyclical markets. So we wanted to diversify,” she said.
Another factor in the decision to merge with Sebo was that the founder of Sebo, Bob Kitella has built the same go-to trusted advisor culture of PureLogicIT. Kitella has more than 25 years of business experience and will be stay on with the company.
Sebo is one of the largest Hitachi Data Systems resellers in the west and the company was looking for help with back end office solutions, which is a core competency of PureLogicIT.
“Bob’s philosophy fit really well with our own culture and he wants to grow the business and make sure Sebo customers are well taken care of,” she added.
Going forward Sebo will be known as PureLogicIT West and will be a division of the company.
With PureLogicIT, Sebo can now offer the full gamut of solutions such as compete, networking, deep storage portfolio, virtualization, disaster recovery and run rate commodity type business. Sebo was primarily known as a storage reseller.
“We shall be operating as one company with a Western division. It will have that local ownership feel and is important for clients to know that we have roots in the west,” Bouchard said.
Currently the PureLogicIT and Sebo partnership will focus on municipal, provincial and federal government business. They are building a practice for oil and gas and it’s supporting sectors such as construction.
