Top 10 predictions for CIO in 2014

The channel always wants to know what’s on the minds of CIOs. And, International Data Corp. (IDC) released its Top 10 CIO predictions today, which should interest solution providers.

The top 10 was put together by IDC analysts David McNally, Joseph Pucciarelli, Dr. Ron Babin, and Fred Magee. The goal of these predictions is to provide long-term industry insight and reveal new themes that may be on the horizon.

Overall IDC said mobile, social, big data, and cloud services are now beginning to mature, but will still require an entirely different set of IT skills and roles — many of which are yet to be invented.

According to Magee, adjunct research advisor with IDC’s research network, there are clear indicators that the existing role of technology management will evolve in a few short years to a set of roles that includes management of innovation, information intelligence, customer experience, and digital business presence. It’s going to be an exciting decade.

Here are the IDC Top 10 CIO Predictions for 2014:

Prediction 6
