Tech Data Canada and HP Enterprise do BCS deal

Tech Data Canada was named by Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) as an authorized distributor of the company’s Business Critical Systems (BCS) products.

The BCS product line are now available to Tech Data’s network of solution providers across Canada and will be supported by the distributor’s Advanced Infrastructure Solutions Division.

Tech Data previously supported the HPE ISS line of networking and enterprise storage products and in this new partnership Tech Data will carry the complete Mission-Critical Servers including the Integrity Mission-Critical x86 servers and the HPE CS500 and CS900 SAP HANA converged systems.

Greg Myers, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Tech Data Canada, said the company is proud to be recognized by HPE for its technical expertise and value added distribution capabilities.

Myers added that HPE continues to focus on hybrid infrastructures and converged offerings that are resonating in the channel making this additional authorization more important to the solution providers.

“It adds another critical piece to our Advanced Infrastructure Solutions offering and ensures that solution providers can now take full advantage of the complete HPE portfolio through Tech Data Canada,” he said.

Also this week, HPE’s security research team released a report on how cybercriminals are making money from stolen credit card data.

The report findings saw some new aspects of cyber crime. Incidents HPE researchers describe as “reshipping” organizations, the “stuffers” who purchase goods using stolen credit card data for those organizations, and the “drops” who unwittingly support the illegal enterprise. These operations are estimated to account for 1.6 million credit and debit cards being abused for more than US$1.8 billion each year.

The HPE report also provides actionable guidance for individuals and organizations – particularly retailers – that are looking to protect themselves, and the significant financial impact of such fraudulent attacks.
