Samsung gets into server-less printing for SMB

While Samsung Electronics was hobnobbing with the celebrities and fashion icons at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week show in New York City, the company announced availability of its BusinessCore Printing Solutions for small and medium sized businesses.

This program is being run through channel partners, but it will be launched initially in the U.S. only. One Samsung Canada executive did confirm that BusinessCore is in action for the Canadian market. The program is designed to increase workplace efficiency through server-less printing. BusinessCore printing is specific for SMBs to aims to meet specific document handling, output management and print accounting needs, while establishing security.

“Our BusinessCore Printing Solutions allow SMB customers to create customizable workflow experiences using our new generation of multifunction devices – in particular, SMBs who are looking for a productive and cost-efficient solution, but aren’t prepared to make an extensive IT investment.”

BusinessCore Printing Solutions consist of integrated document management and output management solutions compatible with Samsung’s A3 and A4 multifunction printers (MFPs) that feature the XOA Embedded open platform. By incorporating automated printing solutions that work seamlessly with existing infrastructure, SMBs can manage, print and share documents with greater efficiency and agility. The services also protect sensitive documents by providing robust security with SecuThru Lite v2, the company claims.

Tod Pike, senior vice president of Samsung’s enterprise business division, said the focus is on delivering an enhanced business experience and for companies of all sizes to efficiently manage print resources. BusinessCore Printing Solutions allow SMB customers to create customizable workflow experiences using multifunction devices – in particular, SMBs who are looking for a productive and cost-efficient solution, but aren’t prepared to make an extensive IT investment.

At the heart of BusinessCore is for customers to establish a seamless workflow experience where there is no IT manager or separate IT budget and installation and operation is done without a server.

BusinessCore Printing Solutions are available in two solution packages – the BusinessCore Document Management Pack, and the BusinessCore Output Management Pack.

The BusinessCore Document Management Pack contains three key solutions in one for increased productivity, security, and efficiency – SmarThru Workflow Lite, Cloud Connector, and Secure Login Manager.

The BusinessCore Output Management Pack is comprised of two solutions for increased security and cost efficiency – SecuThru Lite 2 and Usage Tracker.

Meanwhile back at the New York fashion show Samsung and Swarovski have teamed up to create a limited-edition cover for the Galaxy Note 3. Bundled with a sparkling bracelet, the custom Galaxy Note 3 cover is covered in Swarovski Fine Crystal Rocks and available in three colors – Jet (black), a custom blend of Crystal Bermuda Blue and Crystal Metallic Light Gold, and Crystal Metallic Silver. The bracelet and cover bundle will be available for purchase at the Swarovski retail store in Manhattan, New York for a limited time and will retail for $299.
