Enterprise storage provider Pure Storage announced Tuesday that it’s acquired software company StorReduce, makers of a storage solution for managing large scale, unstructured data.
Pure Storage said the acquisition allows them to expand its public cloud integrations to meet the growing demand to manage unstructured data in multi-cloud environments, while simultaneously adding sophisticated data compression technology to its portfolio. Exact terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Charles Giancarlo, Pure Storage CEO, said the two companies will help customers build data-centric architectures that bridge from on-premises to the cloud.
“The StorReduce team has built an incredibly exciting technology that has the opportunity to make a major impact on next-generation storage architectures,” Giancarlo explained in a statement.
StorReduce CEO Vanessa Wilson said the company was excited to join the Pure Storage team.
“StorReduce and Pure Storage share a common goal to empower customers to get the most out of their data in the increasingly hybrid cloud world,” said Wilson. “With the combination of StorReduce’s data reduction capabilities and Pure’s flash and object storage technologies, we can now optimize many modern cloud-native applications as well as many existing unstructured data workloads, in particular rapid recovery, at a faster rate.”
The acquisition was announced during the company’s second quarter financial results, which according to Giancarlo, beat market estimates. Nearly 400 new customers joined Pure Storage in the quarter, increasing the total to more than 5,150 organizations.
“Our continued focus on enabling customers to succeed in a data-centric world is working and validated, maintaining Pure’s lead in the data storage market,” said Giancarlo.
