New worldwide channel chief for VMware

VMware has been no stranger to leadership changes over the last several years, and 2018 is no different.

The company has appointed Jenni Flinders as its new vice president of worldwide channels. As the global channel chief, Flinders will be responsible for developing and executing VMware’s channel strategy, as well as its global ecosystem of solution providers, distributors, OEMs, and telecom partners.

She was most recently CEO of Daarlandt Partners, a consulting practice where she advised clients on channel strategy. Before that, Flinders spent 15 years at Microsoft in multiple channel, sales, and marketing executive roles. Currently, she also serves as a board member for the Boys and Girls Club of Bellevue, Washington and the Tateuchi Center.

“I’m honoured to serve as VMware’s new worldwide channel chief, and can’t wait to team with our renowned and robust partner ecosystem,” Flinders says in an Apr. 4 press release. “Our partners are key to helping customers realize the value of VMware solutions including our compute, cloud, mobility, networking and security offerings. They are a critical source of valued expertise to customers around the world.”

She will report to Brandon Sweeney, the senior vice president of worldwide commercial and channel sales at VMware.

Sweeney says he is thrilled to have Flinders as VMware’s global channel chief because of her “long and distinguished track record of driving innovation with a diverse set of partners in the IT industry”

“I’m excited to have Jenni work closely with our world-class partner ecosystem to empower our customers to accelerate their digital transformations and integrate public clouds to scale and extend their businesses,” he explains.

This news comes after VMware shuffled many of its executive positions in the summer of 2017, promoting Sweeney to his senior vice president role and moving channel program leader Ross Brown – who has since left the company – to focus on cloud, Internet of Things, and other emerging technologies.
