New Citrix partner certifications target XenDesktop 7 skills

Citrix Systems is taking a solutions-based approach with the roll-out of the first of several new sets of partner certifications, designed to ensure partners have the breadth of skills needed to design, deploy and support holistic Citrix solutions.

The new certifications will align with what Citrix sees as key IT trends around mobile, cloud, collaboration and virtualization, and are designed to help partners acquire the needed skills quickly and efficiently. According to Citrix, the new certification structure has been concentrated, requiring few examinations and less time out of the office.

The first batch of new certifications are focused around the Citrix XenDesktop 7 solution, and are available now. They include Citrix Certified Associate – Apps and Desktops which validates core skills for IT operators and administrators, Citrix Certified Professional – Apps and Desktops which validates deployment skills for experienced IT professionals, and Citrix Certified Expert – Apps and Desktops which validates an understanding of complex IT implementations for seasoned IT professionals.

According to Citrix, similar certifications focused around networking and mobility, designed to validate the skills needed to implement and manage multi-product solutions, will be coming in the next few months.

Because well-trained partners are fundamental to Citrix growth, we continue to evolve our channel program in an effort to make it easier for our partners to do business with Citrix, and help them identify and capitalize on new revenue streams,” said Citrix channel chief Tom Flink, in a statement. “The new simplified structure and guidelines make it easier for our partners to achieve and stay up-to-date on the latest Citrix certifications. Through the new certifications we are also providing our partners with the comprehensive skills and expertise they need to sell end-to-end, holistic solutions, that will differentiate them from competitors and allow them to generate more Citrix-related revenue.
