Mitel launches new UCaaS offering for Canadian partners

Ottawa-based Mitel Networks has rolled out a unified communications-as-a-service (UCaaS) offering that will enable its channel partners in Canada meet the growing cloud-based communication needs of their customers.

MiCloud Enterprise UCaaS bundles Mitel’s communications solutions as a cloud-based service. The offering was introduced in the United States six months ago followed by a roll out in the United Kingdom in May. In line with the Canadian launch, a wider global release is in the works.

The cloud service connects employees, partner and customers with flexible communications channels designed to boost productivity and amplify collaboration. This includes business phones with mission-critical voice quality and collaboration tools with telepresence, chat, audio and videoconferencing capabilities.

“Demand for cloud communications continues to accelerate and Mitel is helping our business partners capitalize on this growing opportunity with MiCloud Enterprise UCaaS,” said Tom Lang, VP Canada, Mitel, in a statement. “For many channel partners, this solution is their bridge to being able to deploy and support their own cloud service while creating recurring revenue streams and providing their customers attractive services for business communications in the cloud,”

Among the early partners to offer MiCloud Enterprise UCaaS are Excel Telecom Inc, Incotel-GH IP Solutions, Introtel Communications Inc, Merbridge Networks Corporation, Minitel Communications Corporation, RackForce Networks Inc and Williams Telecommunications Corp.

Powered by Mitel, the cloud service easily connects employees, partner and customers with flexible communications channels designed to boost productivity and amplify collaboration. This includes business phones with mission-critical voice quality and collaboration tools with telepresence, chat, audio and videoconferencing capabilities. This allows channel partners to offer comprehensive business communications solutions to customers through a subscription-based cloud-service model, said Lang.

MiCloud Enterprise UCaaS is built on Mitel’s software-based, cloud-optimized business communications portfolio. Based on a single stream of software, the solution uses one platform that can be deployed via public, private or hybrid cloud to increase flexibility while decreasing overall complexity.

“Being able to offer the best cloud communications solutions is a success factor,” said Dino Silla president of Quebec-based GH Incotel. “Mitel’s hybrid solution offers feature parity with the CPE solution and this is a big differentiator in the cloud market.”

“In a world where technology is constantly changing, it is essential to have the flexibility and consistency in R&D to be able to meet the requirements of today’s businesses,” according to Christian Hamel, president of Excel Telecom, another Quebec-based firm. “The fact that Mitel offered us the best path to the cloud with all the unified communications features already tried and tested gives us a lot of confidence for the future of our cloud strategy.”
