Security vendor McAfee made two announcements Wednesday to beef up its offerings for the endpoint and mobile security markets.
The first announcement introduces two new suites: McAfee Complete Endpoint Protection – Enterprise and McAfee Complete Endpoint Protection – Business. According to the vendor, the two solutions are the first to include McAfee Deep Defender, a rootkit protection based on hardware-enhanced security jointly developed by Intel and McAfee, dynamic whitelisting, risk intelligence, and real-time security management.
Among the features are improved management and workflow tools, integrated mobile device and data management, hardware-enhanced protection, application control with dynamic whitelisting, and McAfee’s risk advisor tool.
“A few years ago, McAfee created the first security suites. We remain a market leader in what is estimated by IDC to be a $2B market in 2013. That’s more than half of all endpoint security sales,” said Candace Worley, senior vice-president and general manager of endpoint security at McAfee, in a statement. “Now, through performance and automation enhancements to our existing market-leading defences and integration of distinctive and compelling new protections, McAfee suites again define a new level of endpoint protection — one that is firing on all cylinders: speed, security, simplicity, and value.”
In its second announcement, McAfee announced the integration of McAfee Enterprise Mobility with McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator, for a mobile device management platform that is both secure and complies with corporate policy, and is managed through one console.
“Businesses are leveraging mobile technologies to deliver a competitive edge yet many organizations manage these devices separately from their core infrastructure,” said Ari Jaaksi, senior vice-president and general manager of mobile engineering operations at McAfee, in a statement. “Every device that’s connected to the Internet or that has access to an organization’s network or database needs to be secured and managed. McAfee is making it easier for IT departments to see and manage their mobile footprint along with the rest of their infrastructure.”
