McAfee and IBM Security extend partnership with new product integrations

A new partnership between IBM Security and McAfee aims to help cybersecurity professionals respond faster to the millions of new cyber threats discovered every year.

According to the most recent McAfee Labs Quarterly Threats Report, there were 63.4 million new malware samples discovered in the fourth quarter of 2017, resulting in an increase of 32 per cent quarter-over-quarter, and 35 per cent of cybersecurity professionals claim that they cannot maintain an adequate staff of trained individuals.

To help tackle this problem, IBM and McAfee recently announced the integration of IBM Resilient’s Incident Response Platform (IRP) with Data Exchange Layer (DXL). As a result of the integration, Resilient IRP can now natively connect to McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (McAfee ePO), leading to faster response times and better security intelligence, said D.J. Long, vice-president of strategic business development, McAfee.

“The integration of the Resilient IRP with DXL, McAfee TIE and McAfee ePO will enable better security intelligence, faster response times and empower security teams to handle threats using automated tasks,” he said.

And while the software and automation tools that comes with it play a big part in sniffing out cyber threats, people play an important role as well, said Ted Julian, vice president of product management and co-founder for IBM Resilient.

“As security threats become both more numerous and complex, it’s more critical than ever to orchestrate these systems putting the right information, in front of the right person, at the right time and empowering them to act on it,” he said.

The integration of the Resilient IRP and DXL, McAfee TIE and McAfee ePO, is now generally available and can be found on the IBM Security App Exchange.
