Palm Springs, Calif. – Ingram Micro has created two new divisions inside is Canadian operation based in Mississauga, Ont.
Subsidiary president Mark Snider told CDN that the distributor created an Advanced Computing and Advanced Technical divisions. Ingram has promoted Kevin Forster to be the senior manager of the Advanced Computing division and Bob Bonneau has also been appointed to run the advanced technical division as senior manager of that group.
Snider added that Chris Ralston was named senior manager of technical support services and he will be responsible for all field technical consultants across both divisions. “This is a new investment for us that we got from the U.S.,” Snider said.
These two new additions to the Ingram portfolio is part of a new vertical market approach the distributor is taking. Paul Bay, the president of Ingram Micro North American region, said the company is building out additional skill sets and technologies for vertical markets. Ingram already has vertical groups such as healthcare, pro-AV, and digital signage.
Bay describe the two new Canadian divisions as “a big deal”. The Canadian divisional approach was first introduced in the U.S. market. “The process of creating advanced solution divisions will include storage, networking, security, and virtualization. Those are all higher end technologies and we have gained authorizations and investments from HP and from IBM on their P Series products. From my standpoint this provides great value,” Bay said.
Expect to see more these divisional set ups at Ingram Canada. Bay added that the company has created these playbooks from its U.S. market experiences and wants to apply them to the Canadian market. Ingram will also take a pragmatic approach with these playbooks. “All the lessons we had to learn from our U.S. market experiences will be applied to Canada,” Bay said.
For example, Canadians will also get a glimpse of Promark, a storage distributor that Ingram acquired late in 2012. Promark is being run autonomously but some of its solution portfolio is being on-board into Ingram, Bay said.
