From LinkedIn – Amazon is getting into the blockchain game with a new partnership with a startup named Kaleido. This comes via the company’s cloud computing arm, Amazon Web Services, with the goal to make it easier for AWS customers to put their services on blockchain. Essentially, the partnership will eventually give AWS customers an ‘easy button’ to get into this technology so that they don’t have to manage it themselves. With this announcement, Amazon is joining Microsoft and Facebook in exploring blockchain, but this is supposedly the biggest move yet by a tech giant, according to the founder of the Ethereum blockchain platform, who’s technology AWS will be using.

From Reddit – Uber is finally getting rid of its harmful tactics of mandatory arbitration and nondisclosure agreements for sexual assault and harassment victims. Prior to this change, victims would be required to enter into confidentiality agreements that prevented them from speaking publicly about the facts surrounding any sexual assault or harassment. Now, claims can be settled through mediation where confidentiality can be chosen, in arbitration where privacy can be maintained, or in court. This is the latest change that Uber has made in an effort to restore its brand and image since numerous high profile scandals, but this is just one step forward in the right direction. The ride hailing company is currently facing a class action lawsuit for poor driver vetting that has led to numerous sexual harassment and assault incidents, and this decision comes just days before the deadline to respond to that lawsuit.

And from Google Trends – LG really wants Canadians to pick up its newest smartphone, the LG G7 ThinQ. It’s enticing Canadian customers who pre-order the new device from a participating carrier or retailer between the 18th and 31st before the G7 releases on June 1st by offering a free 43 inch LG 4K UHD Smart TV. The TV currently retails for about 600 dollars, making it a much larger pre-order bonus then you’d usually see. To claim the TV, all you have to do is visit www.LGG7TVGift.ca to complete an online claim form and submit a copy of proof of purchase, and boom, free TV. And from what I’ve seen with my limited time with the new smartphone, I dig the new G7, so if you’re looking for a new phone in the coming weeks, definitely check it out for that 4K TV addition.
