FireMon names new channel head

Proactive security management vendor has hired a new global channel lead. Kurt Mills joined the company this week as its new vice president of worldwide channels.

The Overland Park, Kansas-based security vendor has been boosting its channel sales over the last year. Mills’ position will be focused on managing global channel and distribution initiatives, as well as ensuring business alignment with existing partnerships and expanding FireMon’s channel footprint to new markets.

“Kurt has an incredible track record leading the channel and growing partnerships around the world,” said Pete Kobs, chief revenue officer at FireMon, in a statement. “We look forward to utilizing his experience in the industry to expand on our global approach to our channel programs and capitalize on the market need for reducing the complexity associated with security of networked environments.”

Mills joins FireMon from Blue Coat Systems, where he led worldwide channel sales and made a name for himself in the security channel. While at Blue Coat, Mills integrated two cloud acquisitions into the company’s strategy and also developed its channel distribution initiatives.

Prior to Blue Coat, Mill held channel-focused leadership positions at Aerohive Networks and McAfee, making him a veteran of the IT security channel.

According to FireMon, it experienced a 100 per cent year-over-year increase in channel bookings for the first half of 2016. Its channel program is a few years old, and FireMon has aimed to be a channel-friendly company.

“This is an exciting time to join FireMon,” said Mills in a statement. “Over the last year, the executive team has established a sales strategy and vision that led to growth of new customers, strong upsell and renewals and an expansion of the product solutions. The environment they’ve created, along with FireMon’s world class security management technology, provides many opportunities that will be mutually beneficial for both FireMon and the partner community.”
