D-Link Systems Inc. has expanded its Web Smart line of Gigabit Ethernet smart switches with two new models designed for simple management for SMBs needing to carry a combination of voice, video and data traffic.

The two new models are the 52-port DGS-1210-52MP and the 10-port DGS-1210-10. Both offer the same essential features found in D-Link’s other DGS-1210 series switches, such as energy savings, advanced security features and Layer 2 switching options.

The DGS-1210-52MP boasts power-over-Ethernet (PoE) and supports 48 Gigabit ports and an overall PoE budget of 370 watts. The first eight ports are IEEE 802.3at PoE+ compliant, while the remaining ports support IEEE 802.3af. It also includes four Gigabit SFP ports for fiber connectivity.

“The DGS-1210-52MP represents our highest density Web Smart PoE switch,” said Steven Olen, director of product marketing with D-Link, in a statement. “Rack-mountable and only 1RU high, it can power up to 48 PoE and PoE+ devices – including power hungry devices like 802.11ac access points and outdoor IP cameras with heaters and blowers.”

The DGS-1210-10 is designed for smaller, non-PoE applications, with eight Gigabit ports and two Gigabit SFP ports. D-Link says the two additional SFP ports offer flexibility and allow for longer fiber runs in larger building.

For administration and management, options include a Web-based graphical user interface, SNMP, simplified CLI through Telnet or D-Link’s Network Assistant Utility. Tools available include auto surveillance VLAN, bandwidth control, IPv6 Management, a network assistant utility and security features such as access control lists, smart binding and DHCP server screening.
