Asus launches touch-enabled VivoBook S500

PC Vendor Asus has added another touch-enabled Windows 8 laptop to its lineup with the launch of the VivoBook S500.

It’s a 15.6” laptop with a 3rd generation Intel Core processor and Nvidia GeForce GT 635M graphics, the aforementioned touch enabled high-definition display, Asys SonicMaster audio and hybrid SSD/HD drive options.

According to Asus, its “designed with stylish aesthetics, true-to-life sound, and instinctive touch capabilities via the highly responsive multi-point HD touch panel or the oversized touchpad incorporating Asus Smart Gesture technology.”

The vendor also promises two-second resume from sleep mode and up to two weeks of standby time. The VivoBook S500 starts at US$699 depending on configuration, and is available now through the Asus reseller channel.
