Aruba looks to expand SMB presence with HP distie partners

Las Vegas, NV – Even as HP is completing its own split, the enterprise division has begun to integrate its recent acquisition, Aruba Networks.

At a group panel at HP Discover, Greg Murphy, vice president of business operations at Aruba sat down with CDN to talk the future of the subsidiary.

First things first; the Aruba name isn’t going anywhere, Murphy said.

“We are keeping the Aruba brand,” he said.  “It’s something we’ve built over the past 13 years. We’re going to focus on mobility, focus on customer support and maintain that in the marketplace while leveraging the capabilities that HP is bringing.”

Specifically, he explained, Aruba will be using HP’s solutions and services to tap into the SMB market.  Historically, the company had been focused on larger enterprises.

Aruba would also look to HP’s channel partners, including the “distribution channel that extends our reach,” Murphy said.

“Our combined networking solutions …  Can stand toe to toe with anyone from a product portfolio perspective,” he said.  “Designed our solutions to be multi-vendor.  Customers should choose what and when to replace.”

While he declined to talk specifics including whether Aruba’s portfolio will eventually lead HP’s lineup of networking solutions, he said, this would become clearer as the teams sit down for discussions.

Murphy noted that he has only been an HP employee for two weeks, and there is no target deadline for when it should be completed.

“It’s not about days or weeks or months; integration isn’t something that starts and ends, it’s an ongoing process,” he said.  “But it’s been very gratifying.  The combined customer base has shown a lot of excitement.”
