Best Cloud Solution at CDN Channel Elite Awards 2015

Last year’s Gold Winner won for developing a solution to helping people find their misplaced car. At the 2015 CDN Channel Elite Awards, Esri Canada repeated as Gold Winners in Best Cloud Solution for developing a solution called ArcGIS Online that creates a framework for proactive outage communications.

This turnkey solution for presenting, managing and storing electric utility operational information for outage communications includes GIS software and services that enables utilities to create a dynamic public outage map as a standalone Web page or inserted into an existing page on the utility’s Web site and gains a holistic view of their system’s health by supporting real-time integration with operational systems.

The Silver award went to a solution that is truly groundbreaking. Built by ITNorth.ca, it tries to bring traditional medicine and advanced health practices under one roof.

Called RebalanceMD, brings practices such as sports medicine to new joint implantation, orthopedic surgery to rehabilitation in one area.

However, RebalanceMD had a hodgepodge of Linux and Windows systems. Their email server crashed every single day. The constant downtime finally got to unacceptable levels. The silver winner then designed and implemented a hybrid server cloud solution that eliminated outdated software and aging hardware; improved infrastructure flexibility; allows integration of new franchise offices; provides accessibility via email, remote apps and web portals; grants access to Line-of-Business software and to RBMD’s systems of operations; allows unrestricted growth for new franchisees to use the solution; and provides a full back-up and disaster recovery plan on the cloud.

Finally, the Bronze went to EnvisionIT of Toronto for a solution that helped the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies. OACAS was using a home grown system to manage child welfare in the province. The system proved too challenging to build and maintain at enterprise-level expectations for the not-for-profit organization on a budget. EnvisionIT implemented an Extranet User Manager solution as well as an extranet portal site hosted in SharePoint Online giving the client full access to a suite of Office Web Apps. And, the solution did not require any additional hardware.
