The CDN CEA gold winners

Once more the judges of 12th annual Channel Elite Awards had a tough time picking out the winners for the event’s eight categories because this year’s crop of solution providers all excelled in their areas of expertise.

This time, there were eight first time CEA winners and one solution provider taking home double gold awards. Some providers even bagged awards in more than one category.

A crowd of just under 200 people packed the Hazelton Manor in North Toronto to take part in the awards night.

Solution Provider of the Year

i3 Solutions Inc., which is celebrating its 10th year in business next year, took home the coveted Solution Provider if the year award by transforming an often overlooked device in the hospital into a healthcare asset.

The company’s Panacea is a bedside health record display that also features video, eboo, music and video game capabilities for the patient’s entertainment. The device is credited for significantly improving collaboration between patients, doctors, nurses and other support staff aswell as reducing the number of returning patients by as much as 30 per cent.

Lori Bonari, business development manager of i3 Solutions, accepted the award from Rick Reid, president of event sponsor, Tech Data Canada Corp.

Best Service Organization

Missisauga-based managed services and IT consulting firm CompuCom Canada, helped a major multi-national bank do more with less.

CompuCom’s PlanIT provided the bank with an environmentally friendly system that helped the organization create eco-conscious policies and green living traiing programs for its employees.

Louis Lozito, senior account executive for CompuCom, accepted the award.

Best Channel Marketing Solution

No one can accuse the IT Weapons Inc., team of not having any sense of humour.

The innovative and now obviously sharp-witted folks from the Brampton, Ont.-based cloud solutions and managed services firm used a three-part comedy special for the Web to bag the Best Channel Marketing Solution award.

The company’s spoof of the reality TV show Undercover Boss, served to build more awareness of the IT Weapons brand.

Best Enterprise Solution

Toronto-based Navantis Inc., took the Gold award for Best Enterprise Solution based on its expert implementation of a dynamic customer relations management solution for the Financial Sevices Commission of Ontario.

Navantis’ client credited the company for bringing together disparate communities and guilding them through the implementation.

Best Mid-Market Solution

Interware won the Gold award for Best Mid-Market Solution by implementing one of the largest electronic medical record (EMR) migration ever in Canada.

The company migrated more than 44 million health records for the Association of Ontario Health Centres using Interware’s InterPort toolset to extract data from disparate EMR systems.

Best Small Business Solution

Navantis Inc. took the stage once more, this time Andy Papadopoulos, company CEO, picked up the Gold award for the Best Small Business Solution.

Navatis won for implementing a self-service database solution for trackinng members and applicants for the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba.

Papadopoulos proudly shows off the award with Tara Fine, director, channel, of event sponsor Dell Canada.

Best Managed Service Solution

Not only did i3 Solutions  take home the Solution Provider of the Year award, the company also bagged the Gold award for Best Managed Solution.

Best Mobile Solution

Geographic information system (GIS) software firm Esri Canada of Toronto developed an automated vehicle location (AVL) solutionthat integrates with existing GISto help organizations monitor fleet vehicles, manage routes and share vital vehicle data.

It was not all about technology, said Lorelei Luchkiw, marketing andcommunications executive for Esri. Collaboration and partnership with clients was also a critical element in the mix.

Best Cloud Computing Solution

Akos Zsufa, president ITnorth.ca of B.C., credits planning and lots of hardwork for winning the Gold award for Best Cloud Computing Solution.

The company created a “cloud for business-in-a-box” solution that put together a suite of infrastructure, identity, security and productivity tools specially designed for organizations operating in remote regions of Canada.
