CDN’s Top 25 Newsmakers #15-11

Number 15

Stefan Bockhop, channel chief at Lenovo Canada

Lenovo Canada’s channel chief Stefan Bockhop spent much of 2016 emphasizing the company’s interest in data centres and certification in Canada.

The company announced a new partnership with Nimble Storage in October 2016 that allowed it and its authorized partners to sell Nimble’s all-flash array and predictive analytics storage solutions. It also took steps to ensure that IT professionals had options when looking to qualify their data centre knowledge in November. Lenovo now offers two exams, the Lenovo Certified Data Centre Sales Professional exam and the Lenovo Certified Data Centre Technical Sales Professional exam for those in the industry, as well as study guides and training courses for each exam.

 

Number 14

John Graham, managing director at SAP Canada

John Graham’s first year as the managing director of SAP Canada was quite memorable.

It included a historic partnership with Apple highlighted by SAP HANA cloud platform SDK for iOS that will go through partners. Also the enterprise partnership between Apple and SAP created more mobile work applications based on the HANA platform on devices such as the iPhone and iPad.

Keith Weatherford, Americas channel chief at Symantec

Without the efforts of Keith Weatherford in 2016, Symantec Canada would be a shell of its former self.

Symantec went through a lot in 2016 with the Veritas Technologies split becoming official in January, and the acquisition of Blue Coat Systems Inc., a cybersecurity hardware, software, and service provider, closing in June.

 

Number 12

Dino Trevisani, president at IBM Canada

IBM has had its fair share of challenges in 2016 as corporate-wide layoffs hit employees across the globe in April, but with the Canadian division under the direction of president and general manager Dino Trevisani, the company is hoping the bleeding will stop.

Trevisani is a Hamilton, Ont.-born executive who started at IBM in 1998. Before getting tapped for the top job in Canada in early 2015, he served as the managing director for Citigroup. In this capacity he led IBM sales and go-to-market execution for all of Citigroup’s global businesses operating in over 160 countries.

 

Number 11

Judy Foote, Public Services Minister/Shared Services Canada

It’s no secret that Public Services and Procurement Minister Judy Foote has had a tough year.

She became the Liberal Member of Parliament (MP) for the riding of Bonavista-Burin-Trinity in Newfoundland and Labrador (N&L) in the 2015 federal election after spending more than a decade in provincial politics. She has served in N&L’s cabinet as minister of development and rural renewal; minister of industry, trade and technology; minister of education; and minister of industry, trade and rural development.
