Windows 10 installs surpass 75 million devices

Microsoft has announced that as of this week, Windows 10 is running on more than 75 million devices.

Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president of marketing for Windows and devices announced this over Twitter.

While it’s unclear how this number breaks down in terms of PCs, tablets, phones and other devices, Mehdi said over Twitter that it includes more than 90,000 unique PC or tablet models that have upgraded.

He added that even devices from 2007 have made the jump.

Microsoft’s latest operating system was launched just over a month ago on July 29 as a free upgrade to Windows 7 and 8 users. While reception has been warm, security and privacy concerns have risen in the weeks following its release, with users complaining that default settings allowed Windows 10 to collect detailed personal and usage data.

Despite this, vendors including HP and VMware have released updates to their hardware and solution lineups to offer Windows 10 compatibility.
