Veeam Software plans to release to the channel its Availability Platform product for the hybrid cloud this October.
The company, known for its backup and disaster recovery software mainly for VMware and Hyper-V virtual environments, is calling this new product announcement a game changing move that addresses the enterprise market for virtual, physical and cloud-based workloads.
The Veeam Availability Platform product features three main areas:
- Enterprise continuity for recovery service level objectives;
- Workload mobility that promises to go across any cloud or location; and
- Compliance and visibility for monitoring, reporting, testing and documentation that helps with regulatory requirements.
IDC reported recently that enterprises are engaged in a continuous digital transformation process as they adapt to or drive disruption by leveraging digital competencies. Veeam said the company initiated changes to its go-to market strategy to address this market trend. The company added that switching to a cloud-first strategy was a necessity for survival, not a strategy for competitive advantage.
The company believes by 2019, most organizations around the world will need to complete the shift to a predominantly cloud-based IT environment, and this places a huge pressure on availability tools to deliver a constant experience across multiple environments.
Peter McKay, President and COO at Veeam, said the Availability Platform for hybrid clouds represents an inflection point for the company. “In today’s digital world, we know that nothing less than 24.7.365 access to data and applications is acceptable, and as enterprises embrace new technologies to deliver what their users demand.
According to McKay, more than 200,000 Veeam customers have embraced the solutions over the past 10 years and the Availability Platform expands the company’s capabilities and market penetration.
Phil Goodwin, research director protection, availability and recovery at IDC, said success in these digital transformation efforts depends upon data and application availability in the hybrid cloud. A recent worldwide survey of Veeam customers conducted by IDC revealed solid availability business results, including significant improvements in SLA compliance, downtime, and IT operations management time as compared to other solutions used prior to Veeam.
Other workloads for the Veeam Availability Platform are private cloud, virtual server, physical server with Veeam Agent for Linux or Windows, disaster recovery orchestration and there is a cloud-enabled management console for service providers.
