Top 100 Solution Provider Commerx adds to leadership team

Commerx President and CEO Joanna Strong is removing one of her titles and appointing it to a new leader for the IT solutions and managed services provider.

Commerx placed No. 69 on the CDN Top 100 Solution Providers rankings this year and has hired Jim O’Driscoll as its new president. O’Driscoll was the sales director at Bell Business Markets, the information and communications technology solutions arm of BCE.

Strong told CDN she decided to split the two roles because it was in the best interests of Commerx. “Both roles were my strength and my weakness and it was long enough. We are entering what is our next phase of growth and I decided to split the role,” she said.

Strong plans to continue to be the CEO and will focus on strategy and vision specifically working on fostering and growing the company’s strategic partnership with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE Platinum & Pinnacle Partnerships) along with distributors and partners.

O’Driscoll, as president, he will be tasked to bring about better collaboration with the team, improve operations, processes as well as position Commerx to take on an influx of new customers.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to join an already strong organization and to take on this new role to be able to help Commerx write this next chapter.  To help Joanna’s goal of not only providing the highest levels of care and customer satisfaction but also providing an extraordinary place to work.  I look forward to meeting the team, our customers and all our partners in the coming weeks and months,” O’Driscoll said.

His start date is May 30th.

Strong, who was a 2014 CDN Women of the IT Channel honouree, added that O’Driscoll brings to Commerx great data centre expertise as well as managed services knowledge. She also pointed out that O’Driscoll has a strong corporate background.

“Jim has the talent and strengths to bring our teams together, to collaborate and work with each division to help us evolve and grow yet again. He has the talent and the strength to help us better support each other and our customers. I know what’s been working and what we need to expand on, in order to see Commerx become what I envision in this next phase. And, this is exactly the right time to split the role and bring on someone I can trust; someone to complement my own strengths and to work in partnership with on the strategy to help us get there,” Strong said.
