Synnex introduces One IT

LAS VEGAS – After two years of development, at its VARnex Conference this week distributor Synnex unveiled the One IT platform, an online portal for tools that will do double duty for solution providers, providing tools for the channel to operate their own business and help them better solve customer business needs also.

Jonathan Merrill, vice president of Technology Solutions for Synnex, said One IT brings together cloud-based apps as well as managed services apps for automating workflow items in a solution provider business.

“One IT is a cohesive platform that enables best in class apps to share information. This will ensure a more profitable reseller. In today’s IT environment good apps do not talk to each other. Resellers find it difficult to remember passwords, let alone go online to order something and know the rebates on those products. This system ties everything together,” Merrill said.

One IT contains Etilize for product information (8 million products listed), Autotask for hosted IT business management, and the VarCommerce application for managing and tracking leads, creating marketing campaigns and producing quotes.

One IT will also feature human resource and recycling systems. The HR system is from TriNet for payroll, tax administration, risk protection and compliance, while TechXChange provides the recycling system. TechXChange is an auction system for buying and selling surplus IT equipment. Merrill called it the “eBay of recycling.” How it works is a recycling company posts is services online. One IT links it up to resellers who need disposal services or even parts for a 20 year-old phone system.

Canadian solution provider should expect One IT later on in 2013.

Synnex Canada president Mitchell Martin told CDN that he is going to rely on the U.S. organization to work out all the kinks in One IT before it comes to the Canadian subsidiary.

“We tend to let the U.S. work it out first. With One IT we are going to be selective and not try to do as many things as the U.S. is doing right now,” Martin said.

Synnex Canada is working on importing initiatives launched last year at VARnex, such as CloudSolv and RenewSolv. “More work still needs to be done to get them ready for prime time. When we launch, I want to go big quickly and so we’ll wait until it is truly scalable. One IT will be a platform that will integrate all of our solutions together. It will be the glue to get the programs together,” he said.

VARnex initiatives such as CloudSolv, PrintSolv and RenewSolv will all be integrated inside of the One IT platform. Future version of One IT will have solutions such as unified communications.
