Power Pillow: Charge your phone where you lay your head

Many of us keep our smartphones on the nightstand when we lay our heads down at night. Perhaps that’s what inspired a group of Canadian entrepreneurs to create a pillow-based charging system.

According to its backers, the Power Pillow is the world’s first pillow that recharges your smart devices. So if your charge is running low at the end of the day as you hit the couch, rather than being separate from your device while it charges on the kitchen counter you can just plug it into the throw pillow on your couch and keep it close at hand.

The Power Pillow houses a 12000mAh lithium-polymer battery pack with two USB ports for charging USB-based devices, such a smartphones or tablets. Pre-orders will begin online Feb. 7, although pre-orders are available now through the Power Pillow KickStarter page, starting at $79. Delivery is expected in March 2014.

With 28 days to go, the project had reached nearly $11,000 of its $30,000 goal.
