Ottawa solution provider launches data migration service

Ottawa-based Kanatek Technologies is bringing a new data migration service to the market.

The new Kanatek data migration service was developed in partnership with data migration tool vendor Globalnet, and is specifically designed for migrating large data archives to or within Symantec Enterprise Vault environments.

The service got its start as part of a year-long archive data migration project for a large government organization that involved cleaning and migrating a more than 170TB e-mail archive from one data centre to another.

“We were thrilled with what we were able to do for this large organization, and we quickly realized what a huge value this would be to others,” said Terry Kell, president of Kanatek, in a statement.   “We are dedicated to delivering high value-added solutions to the market using Symantec’s Information Management Products, and we believe that our Data Migration Service will be of real value to clients as they navigate rapidly evolving business demands and the explosion of big data.”

Kanatek is a Symantec Platinum Partner and holds a Symantec Master Specialization in Archiving and eDiscovery – the only one in Canada.

“Today’s IT organizations require the agility to store, manage and discover critical information that is growing at unprecedented rates while also reducing costs,”  said Sean Forkan, Symantec’s country manager for Canada, in a statement.  “Symantec is committed to aligning with our partners such as Kanatek and Globanet to deliver an optimal customer experience, and we believe that initiatives like the Data Migration Service will help our mutual customers address key information retention challenges and gain even more value from their investment in Symantec’s Information Management products.”
