Oracle unveiled the Oracle Data Visualization Cloud Service on day two of the weeklong conference in San Francisco that is meant to make data mining a self-service.
This new offering is the latest in the company’s analytics portfolio for cloud.
The strategy behind the new product is that not everyone has to be a data scientist to process the data. According to Oracle, people at all levels can blend and analyze enterprise, personal or big data in just a few clicks that could lead to making more informed decisions.
More than 60,000 attendees are at this year’s show and Oracle outlined new strategies and products for deploying cloud solutions in an on-premise enterprise. The company admitting that on-premise applications and infrastructure are not going away any time soon.
Oracle Co-CEO Mark Hurd said during his keynote address that Oracle has a suite of best of breed applications based on standards for all three-levels of the cloud.
“It’s about a less complex environment. Its about a more secure, reliable environment. That’s whats driving this and nothing else. Its micro, macro economics and the ability to get from here to there at a lower cost. And, drive faster innovation now,” Hurd said.
However, timing is critical as the decisions made today could impact the business in the next 10 years.
Hurd predicted in his keynote that by 2015 there will be two suite providers with about 80 per cent of the SaaS apps. “I suggested we will be one of them.”
But the strategy behind this for Oracle is to deliver on-premise and the cloud. Hurd added that users can move workloads, data and jobs from on-premise to the cloud with the touch of a button.
Hari Sankar, group vice president, Business Analytics for Oracle, said adoption and usage patterns at the more than 400 Business Intelligence Cloud Service customers Oracle has confirms that easy-to-use data visualization is critical.
Sankar added that the new Oracle Data Visualization Cloud Service is intended to make data visualization 100 per cent self-service enabling users to go from raw data to actionable business insights.
One of the aspects of the Oracle Data Visualization Cloud Service is its ability to automatically blend data from various sources be it non-Oracle database or other SaaS applications, on-premise system data and personal files. It can also eliminate the complexity associated with blending and correlating data sets.
Oracle Data Visualization Cloud Service supports analytics on mobile devices, tablets and desktops.
It also takes the analysis and creates narratives for the user that can be shared to a bigger group or to another person securely.
