Nutanix partners with Citrix on VDI solution

It seems Nutanix is not shy about partnering these days.

At Citrix Synergy in Las Vegas this week, the hyper-converged vendor this week announced a new joint solution called Nutanix InstantON VDI (virtual desktop) for Citrix, a solution for simplifying deployments.

The offering, aimed at midsized and larger enterprises features Citrix XenDesktop VDI Edition combined with the Nutanix enterprise cloud platform and AHV hypervisor with Citrix Machine Creation Services integration and three years of support. It is priced at $415 per desktop.

The company imagines that, when combined with low-cost endpoints such as Raspberry Pi-based devices, the cost of the solution should be less than a physical desktop. It estimated that deployment time for Citrix XenDesktop on the Nutanix enterprise cloud platform will be an average of four hours, and can scale between 300 to thousands of users.
