New notebooks and printers designed to meet small business needs

The small and medium-sized business (SMB) market is in the cross-hairs of Hewlett-Packard Co. with the release Monday of several new notebooks and printers the vendor said are specifically designed to meet the needs, and the budget, of the SMB market.

On the notebook side, HP has launched two new models: the HP ProBook 400 Series and the HP 200 Series of business notebooks.

The HP ProBook 400 Series include five models, with 17.3-, 15.6-, 14- and 13.3-inch flat-panel screen sizes available. Businesses can also choose from a range of Intel and AMD processors. Coming in up to 36 per cent thinner and 18 per cent lighter than previous-generation notebooks, it features a Meteorite Grey casing with aluminum accents. A new hybrid hard drive option offers the responsiveness of an SSD with the capacity of a traditional hard drive.

The HP 200 Series business notebook PCs are offered in 15.6- and 14-inch screen sizes with Intel and AMD processor options available. It boasts a durable casing and HP 3D DriveGuard, as is pitched by HP as a multimedia machine.

On the printing and imaging side are a number of new models: the HP LaserJet Pro multifunction MFP M521 is a new multifunction offering, the HP LaserJet Enterprise M725 is an enterprise-class laser printer, the HP Scanjet Pro 3000 s2 Sheet-feed Scanner offers a small footprint and scan-to-cloud support, the HP Officejet Pro 251dw Printer and HP Officejet Pro 276dw MFP offer lower cost per page and the HP Officejet 7610 Wide Format e-All-in-One handles print jobs that may have had to be outsourced previously.

“Our SMB customers often play multiple roles within their organization—from managers to accounting to IT—and they require flexible, high-performance tools to complete their varied business tasks,” said Chris Ogburn, director, Americas small and medium-sized business and channel marketing at HP. “HP is focused on providing user-friendly technologies that improve performance and empower our customers, tearing down productivity barriers with ultra mobile and powerful solutions.”

The ProBook 400 and 200 series business notebooks are available this month starting at $499 and $249, respectivelty. The HP LaserJet Pro MFP M521 series, HP LaserJet Enterprise M725 and HP Scanjet Pro 3000 s2 Sheet-feed Scanner, HP Officejet Pro 251dw Printer and HP Officejet Pro 276dw MFP are available now, and the HP Officejet 7610 Wide Format e-All-in-One is expected to be available beginning in July.
