MicroAge Canada picks new preferred leasing partner

CDN Top 100 Solution Provider MicroAge Canada has picked leasing and finance company Catalyst Finance Partners Inc. as its preferred leasing partner.

The agreement will allow the reseller to process different types of business, including hardware-as-a-service in addition to software and service licenses.

“This is not an exclusive deal,” Herb Roblin, director of national services operations at MicroAge Canada, told CDN, adding that MicroAge did not have a preferred leasing partner previous to Catalyst.

He explained that MicroAge locations in Canada, which are franchises, always had and continue to have the ability to go with someone else.

“We just wanted to come up with a company that we have vetted … and to provide [franchisees] with some best practices and strategies,” he added.

According to Roblin, while MicroAge has strong relationships with distributors Tech Data, Synnex and Ingram Micro, they do not handle much of the leasing side of the business.

Catalyst is a Canada-based financial broker that specialises in this area.

Gail Moorhouse, national technology channel manager at Catalyst said that the company looks for funders that can handle the new subscription model in IT, and tries to help resellers, especially smaller companies, to make the transition.

In total, it works with “at least 100” resellers like MicroAge, Moorhouse said.

MicroAge Canada ranked 11th on CDN’s Top 100 Solution provider’s list last year.
