HP creates a new channel role

HP has created a channel leadership position inside its enterprise group. Bill Veghte, the head of the enterprise group, instituted the position of senior vice president of worldwide indirect sales. Sue Barsamian will have that title. Barsamian was the senior vice president & general manager for Enterprise Group Global Sales.

This move follows company CEO Meg Whitman telling a throng of solution provider partners back in February at the Global Partner Conference that she would do whatever it would take to address the lack of channel leadership at the company.

According to a letter from HP to channel partners, nearly 70 per cent of HP’s enterprise group revenue is through the channel and it was imperative that group had strong channel leadership as that was the primary reason for this move.

The letter went to say the company will help to ensure that the right person – is in the right job – at the right time to help customers and partners along their journey towards the “New Style of IT”.

Barsamian as the senior vice president and GM of the global sales area of the enterprise group was mandated to increased sales revenue and productivity across all segments and routes to market.

Prior to newly created position, Barsamian was the general manager for Technology Services (TS) Support where she was responsible for maximizing commercial support services on all HP products.

Before joining TS, Barsamian was vice president of business operations for HP’s enterprise business, accountable for driving sales strategy and planning for HP’s enterprise business and top 1,800 global accounts.

The Kansas State University graduate joined HP through the Mercury acquisition in 2006 and had global responsibility for HP Software business operations. Previously, Barsamian served as vice president of global GTM (go to market) at Mercury Interactive, where her team supported the transformation of the company’s GTM model from that of point products to enterprise solutions.
