Intronis brings Hyper-V and VMware 6 support to data protection solution

Channel-only backup solutions provider Intronis has announced the winter 2015 release of its data protection solution ECHOplatform, which will see new functions including Hyper-V and imaging rapid recovery, object level restore from physical and virtual local image backups and VMware 6.0 support.

In practice, this should simplify and accelerate real-time data recovery to a matter of minutes, the company said in a statement.

“The enhancements are designed to help channel partners better support more complex cloud, virtualized and physical IT environments, grow their share of wallet with existing customers, and attract new business by offering a real-time, cloud-based data recovery solution that’s built to protect the business,” Intronis said.

According to the company, the Hyper-V rapid recovery option should allow for this type of environment to be recovered from local image-based storage in as little as 30 seconds.

Meanwhile, for channel partners that want to stay up to date, VMware 6.0 support will allow for native backup of the new hypervisor.

In terms of pricing, Intronis is sticking to a fixed monthly cost structure, one that it says should make it “easier for channel partners to resell the managed service at a predictable and profitable price. With its new features and functionalities, the platform supports the broadest range of backup and disaster recovery use cases for small to mid-size businesses.”
