Ingram Micro appoints Canadian exec to run UK business

In your good Canadian boy does well category, Brent McCarty has been promoted to the role of Executive Managing Director of Ingram Micro UK and Ireland.

McCarty who was a fixture in the Canadian IT industry for many years ran Ingram’s Consumer Electronics arm IMCE. This division was known as DBL Distributing and was run separately from Ingram Micro for several years.

In 2010, Ingram decided to acquire another electronics distributor called AVAD, which dealt primarily in home electronics. McCarty was instrumental in successfully integrating AVAD into Ingram’s CE division.

McCarty’s new job will see him report to Johan Vandenbussche, regional vice president, UK, Belgium and the Netherlands with Ingram EMEA.McCarty has also been credited for growing IMCE profitably through the expansion of the division. He also implemented cross-sell initiatives at IMCE as well as introducing independent retailer to the division’s retailer network. In his new role, McCarty will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Ingram Micro’s business in that region.

As McCarty leaves the North American region, his job will be filled by Tom Bamrick, who is a Buffalo, N.Y.-native and ran the global sales and the east campus area for the distributor.

Paul Bay, president of Ingram Micro North America, said that the company is fortunate to have a strong talent base to draw upon during times of change or transition. Both McCarty and Bamrick have proven track records of delivering admirable results through unwavering partner commitment and a focus on operational excellence, Bay added. Bay will be working with both McCarty and Bamrick early on during the transition to ensure a seamless transition for solution providers and vendor partners.

Bamrick joined Ingram Micro in 1994, and in addition to his most recent role leading global partnership development, he was also responsible for the Ingram Micro Buffalo Campus and served as the local executive champion, supporting more than 1,400 associates. During his tenure with Ingram Micro, Bamrick has held several key enterprise and commercial sales management and business development roles, including the distributor’s largest, multi-million dollar global partners. In his new role at IMCE, Bamrick will report to Brian Wiser, senior vice president, Specialty Division, Ingram Micro North America.
