About a year after Ingram Micro Canada regained its independent status instead of being part of the North American region, its president Mark Snider has accepted a job to be the Executive Vice President and Group President for Europe, Middle-East and Africa (EMEA) for Ingram.
Snider will be responsible for the whole of Europe and the Middle East and Africa. With this new role, Snider plans to move to Ingram’s Irvine, Calif. headquarters. Snider has been in charge of Ingram Canada since the middle of 2007 when he along with Charlie Spano became duel presidents of the subsidiary.
Approximately a year later Spano resigned from Ingram making Snider the sole boss of the Canadian operation.
Snider’s departure will not leave a hole in Ingram Canada leadership. Paul Bay, who has been running the U.S. operation was also promoted to Group President of the Americas and the Canadian operation will be part of his territory. Bay previously ran North America for Ingram. Also Bill Brandel, the executive director of advanced solutions will be overseeing the Canadian operation reporting directly to Bay, according to sources with knowledge of the situation at Ingram.
Another source told CDN that Brandel works out of the Buffalo, N.Y. office and has been mentored by Snider since 2010.
Bill Brandel will hold the title of vice president and country chief executive of Canada for Ingram. Brandel has been with Ingram for 18 years.
Also Kirk Robinson who is Senior Vice President of Commercial Markets and Global Sales will effectively lead the entire U.S. go-to-market organization. Both Brandel and Robinson will report to Bay. All these executive changes now ensure that Ingram has the regional structure that is aligned similar to the way most vendors operate. Mike Zilis has been named Executive Vice President and Group President of Asia Pacific, a geography he currently works in already.
CDN has also learned that Snider will be actively involved during the transition period, which expected to be the rest of the quarter.
Snider has done a stellar job over his tenure as the President of Ingram Micro Canada culminating in last year’s decision to implement a Canada first strategy after years of placing Canada as part of a much bigger North American regional strategy.
By being Canada first Snider was able to form a partnership with Microsoft Canada as they open two new data centres in 2016.
Snider told CDN at the time Canadians are moving past the data residency issue more every day. The Ingram Cloud Marketplace will be aligned to the new data centres in Toronto and Quebec City. One of the new tools Ingram will be offering is a single cloud portal for ordering and billing to end users.
He also approved more resources to the channel that included an increase in headcount for technical architects for this partnership. This will mean Microsoft Canada and Ingram Canada working together as virtual teams.
JoeAnne Hardy, President of CDN Top 100 Solution Provider WBM of Saskatoon, Sask., said Snider made many significant contributions to the channel in Canada. Hardy is a three-time past President of Ingram’s Trust X Alliance Channel program described Snider as a fantastic leader. “We are so incredibly grateful for his support and belief, but most of all his friendship. It’s been a great pleasure over the years, and Mark has truly been there for us and for so many others the whole way along, listening and helping us grow. It is exciting to see him taking this amazing next step. We will miss him so much!”
At the start of 2015, Snider was promoted to the role of senior vice president and general manager of the company.
After joining the company in 1995 as director of inside sales, Snider has had various roles at Ingram including the senior director of major accounts division, vice president of sales for Canada and the general manager of partner development. Under his direction, Snider spearheaded Ingram decision to become the first of the three major distributors to ink a deal with Dell.
Snider has been named to multiple CDN Top 25 Newsmakers lists.
