An iCloud user who had her iPhone stolen has created a Facebook album of photos taken by the device since it was taken.
Because the iPhone was hooked up to Apple’s iCloud, photos taken with the device are being streamed to Katy McCaffrey’s account.
Rather than use Find My iPhone, a service offered by iCloud, McCaffrey decided it would be much more fun to track the adventures of her iPhone as it began its new life in the hands of the thief.
McCaffrey set up an album on Facebook called “Stolen iPhone Adventures”. The album has been shared by more than 2,000 users.
Using the photos, McCaffrey claims that using the photos she was able to deduce where her phone went and identify the new owner.
The phone was stolen on board a Disney Wonder cruseline in April and many of the photos feature a cruise ship employee, although of course, he may not be resonsible for the theft of the phone.
McCaffrey has contacted Disney Cruiseline, she writes: “I have alerted the officials of the Disney Cruiseline and forwarded them the photos. Hopefully I’ll get my phone back and maybe some free passes to Disneyland.”
Back in January a UK software engineer also received photos from his stolen iPhone, notes WNYC in the report.
