Dell brings open source to big data

Open source is coming to the cloud. Technology vendor Dell, which has been working hard to transition from a cheap PC vendor to an infrastructure services player, has announced a partnership with hardware manufacturer Inktank for an open source-based cloud solution.

Inktank provides support for Ceph, an open source distributed file system, and according to a report from The Var Guy, the two companies will integrate Ceph into Dell’s cloud platform to allow customers to deploy Ceph and other parts of the OpenStack platform on Dell hardware knowing it has been tested for the configuration.
