D-Link is offering Canada a “true 802.11ac product”

According toD-Link, the company has shipped the first 802.11ac USB adapter in Canada.

D-Link claims the Canadian market will get its “first taste of a true 802.11ac solution.” The launch of the Wireless AC1200 Dual Band USB Adapter (DWA-182) now allows client devices to benefit from the improved speed that this next-generation wireless technology brings.

Along with the 802.11ac adapter, D-Link is now shipping its amplify Wireless AC1750 Dual Band Gigabit Router (DIR-865L). This product incorporate the wireless standard, 802.11ac, with its own mydlink network management technology.

D-Link said that this router makes use of the 5GHz frequency band to deliver speeds up to six times faster than that of today’s common Wireless N routers. Furthermore, the dual band capability uses multiple channels to provide wireless speeds of up to 1750 Mbps (1300 Mbps over the 5GHz band plus 450 Mbps over the 2.4GHz band).

Pairing this router with D-Link’s new Wireless AC1200 Dual Band USB Adapter (DWA-182), means that users can upgrade PCs and notebooks to take full advantage of 802.11ac. The adapter is also backwards compatible with other Wi-Fi standards.

Lou Reda, General Manager of D-Link, said with the explosion of High-Definition content and availability of faster broadband speeds, combined with the growth in connected devices around the home, people understand the need for more powerful solutions and fast, easy and seamless connectivity.

The Wireless AC1200 Dual Band USB Adapter (DWA-182), available for $79.99, and the Wireless AC1750 Dual Band Gigabit Router (DIR-865L), available for $189.99. Both products are available at retailers and solution providers across Canada.
