Could low tech be better than high tech?

If no one uses so-called revolutionary technology, is there really a technology revolution?

That’s the question ComputerWorld columnist Mike Elgan poses in a recent column, where he makes the case for low-tech technology that works, rather than worshiping the latest fad that may never made it off the Consumer Electronics Showcase demo floor.

He makes a good point. Too often on our industry, we get overly focused on the latest gadgets. It’s important to keep focused not on the technology, but the problem the technology is meant to solve. Technology can’t just be cool; it needs to be useful too.
