Conference goers getting a more connected, personal app for shows

There are exactly 229 ICT conferences and shows in the 2016 calendar year and a Toronto-based company is trying to make sure everyone who attends one or all of these events gets to communicate with the right people.

Called Lasteek, it was developed by former Atlantis Computing Canada executive Ross DiStefano. Lasteek is a mobile app that goes beyond the systematic conference show app by enabling users to communicate in real time and on a global scale.

DiStefano says that when a business executive is on the road he or she must optimize their travel time.

But usually what occurs is the business traveler arrives at a conference not knowing who might also be attending that same show. Afterwards, to the astonishment of the show attendee, he or she discovers by chance that there are several key people they could have met to do real business with but it’s too late because their agendas are full.

lasteek Lasteek takes the guess game away from conference goers as users can view who is attending up-coming conferences before they step on a plane. Lasteek users can pinpoint who is attending the conference and be able to send out meeting notices.

Connections are just one aspect of Lasteek’s ability. With Lasteek if you are hosting a special function outside the convention centre or hotel and want to invite key people at the show you can inside Lasteek.

One of the key features in Lasteek is its location detection services that enables you to apply filters to target executives who have the same interests in your proximity. These filters include: title, industry, language, alumni, function, company, and interests or expertise.

“You can even Invite people to the booth because it can source out people in your proximity. If you have a special event happening at the show or your booth Lasteek can filter people by market direction or industry vertical and tailor your special function for this group,” he said.

But if you want just a simple dinner meeting; it can do that too, DiStefano added.

DiStefano said there is value in knowing the people around you that could potentially become a strategic partner or customer.

What Lasteek also does in dramatically increase face-to-face meetings, which is a main factor for attending the conference in the first place.

“Lasteek can quickly inform the user about an executive’s personal interests. For example, if you know that a certain executive is a baseball fan and there is a game in town you can invite him or her to the game all through the mobile app,” DiStefano said.

Currently DiStefano is focusing on the information communications technology sector but Lasteek is a mobile app that can easily adapt to other industries.

Lasteek is available for Android and IOS smartphones.
