CompuCom Canada leader leaves organization

Multiple sources have told CDN that Phil Soper has left CompuCom Canada after nearly nine years running the Top 5 solution provider in Canada.

Soper had the title of vice president and general manager and was responsible for the enterprise business division focused on data centre, communications and networking along with full responsibility for the company’s business operations in Canada.

Over his career, Soper consistently achieved his team’s targets and built many profitable business practices.

Before joining CompuCom Canada, Soper served as national sales manager at Apple Canada Inc., where he created a multi-sales channel approach sold into key markets such as education, business, channel and consumer.

The Western University graduate was also vice president, complementary channels for Telus Business Solutions. Soper got his start in the channel at Compaq Canada Inc. where he spent 14 years in sales and sales management positions.

Soper’s resignation comes almost a year after SoftwareOne and CompuCom agreed to a deal that will see the Berlin, WI.-based direct market reseller acquire the software licensing business of CompuCom.

CompuCom is based in Dallas but has Canadian headquarters in Mississauga, Ont. Last year CompuCom Canada was the No. 4 ranked solution provider on the CDN Top 100 list with revenues between $400 to $450 million. The purchase price for CompuCom’s software business has never been disclosed. This deal has impacted the Canadian operation of CompuCom.
