CDN Top 100 winner Herjavec Group buys security provider

A Toronto-based security company that was named one of the country’s top IT firms in last year’s CDN Top 100 Solution Providers event is expanding its customer base with the acquisition of a Canadian managed services provider.

The Herjavec Group (THG) announced that it has purchased Sentry Metrics, a managed security service provider (MSSP) that specializes in compliance management and development of enterprise security solutions. The Herjavec Group focuses on network acceleration and security. It was founded by Robert Herjavec, who also stars in the hit TV entrepreneur funding reality show Shark Tank. In 2013, THG was ranked number 13 among the top 100 solutions provider in Canada by Computer Dealer News. The company ranked number 14 in the previous year.

The Sentry Metrics acquisition is The Herjavec Group’s second this year and supports THG’s three-year, $250 million expansion plan. Sentry Metrics will be rebranded over time as The Herjavec Group and become fully integrated into THG’s ongoing operations in Canada and the US.

By acquiring Sentry Metrics, THG is growing is customer base to more than 100 managed service clients, enhancing its technical expertise and boosting revenue by more than $7.5 million, according to Herjavec. With the purchase THG also grows its run rate to $140 million in sales and now has 225 employees.

“The recent string of headlines involving targeted hacks and data breaches has made cybercrime a focus at the executive and board of director level,” said Herjavec. “As demand for third party security firms increases at an unprecedented rate, The Herjavec Group has expanded to become one of the largest independent managed service providers in North America.”

“While I am extremely proud of the company we have built, I know The Herjavec Group will take Sentry Metrics’ customers to the next level,” said Dave Millier, CEO of Sentry Metrics.

A new organization, named Uzado after Sentry Metrics’ proprietary software, has been created to support the platform’s further development. It will be led by Millier.
