CDN reveals the Top 100 Solution Providers

Toronto – More than 14 new solution providers made there way into the latest CDN Top 100 Solution Provider rankings, while some the top five shuffled their order.

In front of a packed audience last night at the Paramount Conference and Event Venue, Canadian IT solution providers proved they are a force to be reckoned with in the IT industry.

For the fourth time in a row Softchoice claimed top spot with nearly half a billion dollars in revenue. But, at No. 2 was Xwave, a division of Bell Aliant. Compugen finished in the No. 3 position.

New to the top five is MetaFore, which is owned by Hartco. Hartco late last year merged MetaFore and Microserv to solution providers that were separate only for legal reasons. Their combined revenue of between $325 to $350 million was enough to displace Insight Canada, who chose not to participate in this year’s rankings. Finishing in the top 5 was CompuCom Canada CCSI.

This year’s list feature many new, creative and service-oriented business partners. There were 14 newcomers to the rankings such as GFI Solutions Group Inc. from Montreal, CPU Inc. also from Montreal, JumpPoint from Toronto, Critical Control Solutions of Calgary, IT2Go Solutions of Quebec City, Illumiti of Toronto, Uniserve Communications of New Westminster, B.C., Forsysthe Technology Canada of Mississauga, Ont., Groupe Informatique TechSolCom of Montreal, Brantel Networks of Burlington, Ont., BlueRange Technology of Oakville, Ont., CompuVision Systems Inc., of Edmonton, Second Foundation Consulting of Kitchener, Ont, and IPS of Vancouver.

The best performing newcomer is JumpPoint who is led by former Unis Lumin boss Glenn Mowat.

The fastest riser award recipient was Genx Solutions who jumped up 24 spots from last year’s rankings.

Canadian IT Solution Providers have certainly had to work hard to ride out the recession of 2009. The Top 100 Solution Providers achieved revenues of $5.3 billion, a decrease of 3 per cent from 2008, in which $5.5 billion was recorded. As a further indication, the revenue cut off for the 2009 Top 100 was $7.2 million, verses $7.8 million in 2008.

Congratulations to all those who participated in the Top 100 and CDN would also like to thank the sponsors Tech Data Canada, HP Canada, Dell Partner Direct, Symantec Canada, and D-Link Canada.
