Canadian MSP joins coalition to stop DDoS attacks

Managed services provider Arbor Networks Inc. of Chelmsford, Ma., has taken on a Canadian partner in Allstream in its fight to prevent distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks.

Both Arbor Networks and Allstream will now be part of the Cloud Signaling Coalition (CSC), a group set up to prevent DDoS attacks or mitigate its threat. The CSC is an innovative partnership between service providers, data centre operators and enterprises with the mission to ensure the availability of their network infrastructure and speed time-to-mitigation for DDoS attacks.

Joining the CSC will enable Allstream to further secure its network and offer customers a proactive way to block harmful traffic without impeding legitimate traffic.

Mike LaPalme, director of solutions and partner marketing, managed IP services at Allstream, said the company is dedicated to helping IT professionals evolve with rapidly changing technological demands while maintaining network performance at maximum levels. As DDoS attacks become more complex, enhanced network security becomes imperative. Allstream involvement in Arbor’s Cloud Signaling Coalition is just another example of how this company is committed to customers’ network security.

Allstream has just released an educational video series titled: DDoS Attacks – Understanding the business impacts and methods for mitigating. These videos explore what DDoS attacks are, how they have evolved and who’s behind them.

Cloud Signaling Coalition allows the service provider to provide differentiated managed security services, reduces the time to mitigation and increases the effectiveness of the response against DDoS threats, thus saving the customer from major operational expenses and helping to preserve their reputation.
