Boosting service provider revenue with remote print management

Xerox says it’s working on a new plug-in solution for remote monitoring and management (RMM) software that will help IT service providers capture more business.

The software integrates Xerox’s printer discovery and monitoring capabilities with RMM software for managed service providers and IT professionals from LabTech. The solution will be available for beta testing in January.

According to Xerox, the solution has a single dashboard that provides information on printer activity, and displays error messages such as paper jams or low consumables. The solution is vendor agnostic, and Xerox said it will allow IT service providers to add printer monitoring to its other remote service offerings. It hopes other MSP vendors will join LabTech in integrating with the Xerox solution.

“The IT and document service markets are converging, and Xerox is helping resellers capitalize on opportunities within each,” said Douraid Zaghouani, president of channel partner operations for Xerox Technology, in a statement. “Our integration with LabTech is another step toward making it easy for IT service providers to generate new recurring revenue streams and grow their businesses by managing print as well.”
