Belkin debuts Lego Builder Case for iPhone 5 and iPod Touch

Many of us grew up playing with Lego, and now we can always have a little Lego with us – as long as we have an iPhone, that is.

Technology accessories and peripherals vendor Belkin has launched what it claims is the first officially licensed and fully functional Lego Builder Case that is also a certified Lego brick. It’s a phone case that fits Apple’s iPhone 5, as well as the fifth generation iPod and allows users to build their own Lego designs directly onto the case’s integrated Lego baseplate.

”At Lego we strive to build imagination into your everyday life, and the partnership with Belkin allows us to do that: offer a functional product that also serves as a stage for expression for anyone embracing a mobile lifestyle,” said Lego CEO Jørgen Vig Knudstorp, in a statement.

On the back of the builder case is a Lego baseplate, made by Lego factories to Lego standards and integrated into the case, providing a foundation for personal Lego creations (additional bricks sold separately, of course).

The case also includes a semi-flexible outer frame for shock-absorption, button protection, and unobstructed access to audio ports and speakers.

“Belkin and the Lego Group partnered to bring to life our shared belief in the unlimited potential of our imagination,” said Patrick Sullivan, director of product management at Belkin, in a statement. “The Builder cases are exceptional in that they come in the iconic Lego colors, are fun and protective … let the building begin.”
