Avnet to expand partner education program with new global Lenovo deal

Avnet Technology Solutions is placing a special importance on teaching its customers how to use certain products with its new Lenovo Group Ltd. contract.

The business-to-business technology distributor’s training division, Avnet Academy, has announced that it is expanding its global education portfolio to include “comprehensive training courses” for Lenovo’s System x and Flex products. It will be available to partners and customers – at an additional cost – in all the countries where Avnet operates worldwide, although  it will provide discounted rates to its partners to “help them get enabled,” a spokesperson tells CDN.

“We’re providing our partners with tools and training to help their end customers accelerate their careers,” Hees Ham, vice president of education services in North America at Avnet Technology Solutions, explains in a Feb. 8 press release. “With our Lenovo training path, we will help guide IT professionals to ensure they have the skills, certifications and tools needed to handle real-world, next-generation technology environments.”

Lenovo is an existing strategic supplier for Avnet, and this agreement will “further support partners and their customers to develop, implement and maintain business solutions that rely on Lenovo technology,” the company says in the release.

Alex M. Badia, director of data center group services training at Lenovo, emphasizes how important training programs are.

“As a leading solutions specialist, the launch of this program by Avnet makes it simpler for partners and their customers to build up knowledge and become more highly qualified, which in turn helps them to transform technology into business solutions and further accelerate their success,” he adds.

In supporting this new Lenovo agreement, Avnet will also be running pilot partner programs to encourage the successful promotion of training by offering rewards for positioning training effectively.
