Asus unveils holiday device lineup with half consumer, half gamer devices

TORONTO – Halloween may still be around the corner, but the channel is gearing up for the holiday season.

Asus has announced its core product line and CDN got a sneak peek. Check out what the hardware vendor has in store.

 

Transformer Book T100HA

Asus Transformer Book T100HA

Starting at around CAD $350, this 2-in-1 is one of two budget devices that Asus offers that have both tablet and laptop functionality. At this price, the devices offers an Intel Cherry Trail Quad-Core Z8500 processor, Windows 10, 2 or 4 GB of memory, a 10.1 inch 16:10 1280×800 display, and 32GB, 64GB or 128 GB of storage.

Asus is really pushing the battery life on this device, claiming it can reach up to 12 hours.

Transformer Book Flip

The second device in the Transformer line demoed starts at around CAD $450. While the specs don’t measure up to something like the Lenovo Yoga 900 or Microsoft Surface Book, it does offer more mid-range specs with an Intel Quad-Core Braswell Pentium processor, Windows 10, 11.6 inch 16:9 1366×768 multi-touch screen, up to 128GB SSD storage, Bluetooth, a USB 3.0 port and a USB Type-C port.

ZenBooks

Of course, the company also represented in the high-end market, with the UX303, UX305, and UX501 models.  These three ultrabooks with increasingly higher specs have features such as FHD and QHD screens, SSD drives, dedicated NVidia GeForce graphics, and USB 3.0 ports.

Now for something you don’t see every day, Asus is bringing its first phone, the ZenFone 2, to Canada.

The specs for the device currently include Android 5.0 (Lollipop), a 5.5 inch 1920×1080 screen, an Intel Atom Quad Core processor, 2 and 4GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB/64GB/128GB of flash storage, and a 3000 mAh non-removable battery.

Unique features of the phone include dual SIM for business users, and Asus’ Zen UI.  Asus will also be updating the model later in the year with different internal hardware, and making it compatible with more Canadian carriers.

It should be mentioned that Asus will also be bringing the ZenWatch 2 to Canada.

 

ROG Desktops and Monitors

It should be noted that half of Asus’ lineup was gear targeted at gamers, under its Republic of Gamers brand. The ROG G20CB compact tower, the G11CB upgradable tower, as well as ROG-branded Swift PG279Q 1440P (2,560 x 1,440) resolution display, with a refresh rate of 165Hz refresh rate and the Swift PG27AQ, a full 4K display (3,840 x 2,160) with a refresh rate of 60Hz.

 

ROG RT-AC88U Router

The RT-AC88U dual-band wireless-AC3100 gigabit router was designed specifically for gamers in mind. The 802.11ac Wi-Fi router touts a combined dual-band data rate of 3167 Mbps for low latency online gaming, 4K streaming and file-sharing, and uses Broadcom NitroQAMTM to boost 5 GHz data rates up to 2167 Mbps and 2.4 GHz up to 1000 Mbps. With four antennas, wireless signal coverage is meant to exceed 500 m² (around 5400 square feet).

 

ROG Laptops

As for ROG laptops, Asus had another three lined up, namely the GL552, an older GL752, and a refreshed model.  According to an Asus representative, the update will bring a new look of orange accents to the device, as well as new ventilation technology that is able to specifically push dust out of the machine, allowing users to take advantage of the machine’s full specs.
